Our marvelous journey started with Kandy where we first visited Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage. Home to several elephants, this place was filled with sheer cuteness and affection. There, we witnessed elephants moving freely in a herd with small babies tagging along with their parents. Watching elephants bathing in the river, and feeding baby elephants was such a therapeutic experience. We also visited the Temple of Tooth Relic where we gained insights into the history of the temple and how sacredly people embrace the culture.

2. Admiring the town of tea plantations: Nuwara Eliya

Next, we visited the picturesque tea estate on our way to Nuwara Eliya. We drove to this hill town through the vast stretches of tea plantations. At Ceylon Tea Museum, we saw ancient machines, visited the library and got to understand how tea plantation flourished this place. We also met and talked to local women who worked and lived on the estate. The art of tea making was something that intrigued us immensely. We also tasted some really unique kinds of tea and bought a few Ceylon tea packets.

3. Enjoying Jungle safari at Yala National Park

a sight to behold

Known for its leopard sightings, Yala National Park was our next destination. We took a jeep safari through the park. Initially, we were a bit panicky but, when we spotted animals enjoying in their habitat, we were completely spellbound. Some of the elephants descended upon the site which created a jam but still, it was such a sight to behold. During a long 2:30-3:00 hours of safari, we were able to see deers, buffalos, wild pigs, colorful birds, and crocodiles. Fortunately, we encountered some leopards also (and there our safari reached perfection!). Also, visitors must bring binoculars, otherwise they will not be able to enjoy at this beautiful place.

4. Whale watching at Mirissa: A majestic experience!

Since the start, we were quite excited for whale watching which is the USP of this place. Quite early in the morning, we started our journey with loads of excitement. Voila! we were lucky enough to spot not one, but so many whales in one go. Watching whales coming up over the sea level was a completely thrilling experience. We also got to see flying fish, dolphins, jelly fish, and turtles.

5. Going beyond relaxation at Unawatuna

resort at Unawatuna

Out of several things to do in Unawatuna, visiting its beaches tops it all. We reached this beautiful location on day 6. This place is famous for its pristine beaches, trendy restaurants, various sightseeing options, and water activities. Here, we stayed at Joe’s Resort which is one of the best beach resorts in Sri Lanka. Be it the location, the amenities or the overall vibe, everything was an epitome of perfection at this resort. We really enjoyed our stay here and frankly, it was hard for us to leave this place and move to our next destination.

6. Visit to the turtle hatchery and the mask museum

Our day 7 was dedicated to some exclusive experiences. We first visited Turtle Hatchery at Galle where we witnessed 24 different species of turtles and also touched a few of them. It was quite interesting to learn how turtles are rescued and taken care of. What a wonderful job this organization is doing!

amazing shots.

Now was the time to visit Ariyapala Masks Museum where entry was for free. There, we were given a brief tour by the guide who explained various masks and the stories behind them. We saw some masks which were over 200 years old. Overall, it was such a unique experience to know about the culture in depth. Unlike most of the museums, here, photography was allowed.

7. Face to face with the Wildlife at Dehiwala Zoological Garden

Dehiwala Zoological Garden in Colombo

enchanting getaway

worth visiting place

Out last stop was Dehiwala Zoological Garden in Colombo which is a shelter to a variety of animals and birds. There, we spent almost 4 hours watching the wide species of animals and reptiles including bears, leopards, puma, snakes, tigers, monkeys and alligators. It a small zoo but it didn’t seem like so when we started exploring it. Also, the zoo was well-maintained, clean and had perfect greenery. There were are some food stalls and restaurants to satiate hunger pangs in between the tiring walk. Also, it is worth mentioning that if one is on a family trip to Sri Lanka, then this place is a must-visit.

Eventually, our long 9 days romantic trip to Sri Lanka reached its end. Little did we realized how days passed by. From the first day at Kandy to the last day at Colombo, we could enjoy each and every moment of our romantic escapade. Just like we expected, we could witness soft-sand beaches, lowland jungles, mesmerizing hills, the blanket of tea estates, and rich culture of this beautiful tourist hot spot. Moreover, the cleanliness, fresh vibe and sheer warmth of the locals are the things that made this place worth visiting. Even now when we are back into our daily routines, a series of blissful flashbacks are throwing back to the enchanting getaway. Not only the location but also the perfect itinerary added great value to our overall experience. The agents were connected with us from the time we booked until the last day of our trip. Lachung Valley Guide: Know Everything About The Hidden Northeastern Paradise

Sikkim is blessed with the most vivid strokes on Nature’s canvas – surreal landscapes, dreamy misty mountains and valleys that make you wonder if you’ve landed in paradise. The essence of all that Sikkim has to offer is wrapped up in this idyllic North Sikkim hamlet, Lachung.

Tall majestic snow-clad Himalayas, sparkling mountain streams and waterfalls, bountiful fruit orchards and meandering blue rivers complete this perfect picture of untainted and untamed nature in all its glory at Lachung Valley.

Well-connected with Gangtok, the Lachung valley is a 6-hours’ drive from the capital city along a winding road offering breathtaking views and an exhilarating experience. The scenic drive along the mountains will make you believe that the journey itself is as rewarding as the destination.

1. Lachung Monastery

peaceful vibes nourish your soul

While exploring the village, the Lachung Gompa (monastery) is a tranquil place to spend time admiring the beautiful wall murals, ancient sculptures and letting the peaceful vibes nourish your soul. If you happen to visit the monastery during some important Buddhist festivals like the Saga Dawa (celebrating Buddha’s birth, enlightenment and death), Chaam (masked religious dance) or Lossong (the harvest festival and New Year of Bhutia people), you get a chance to witness the local traditions and culture more closely. The handicrafts and carpet weaving centre in Lachung valley displays exquisite woollen carpets, rugs and shawls crafted by the locals.

Sikkim-Gangtok-Darjeeling Holiday Packages On TravelTriangle

Visit Sikkim and explore Yumthang valley, Tsomgo Lake, Gangtok, Nathula Pass, and Pelling. Experience peace and tranquility while exploring Buddhist monasteries, snow-capped mountains, and wildlife sanctuaries. Book packages inclusive of airport transfers, cab, resort, sightseeing, and meals.

2. Mt Katao

snow capped peak

A 40-minute drive away from Lachung is the snow bound landscape of Mt Katao close to the Indo China border. Due to its proximity to the border, permission must be sought from the Army before visiting the place. While this is a winter wonderland from November to March, Mt Katao is equally captivating during the spring and summer months. At a dizzying 15000 feet, Mt Katao would charm both nature lovers and adventure seekers with its snow-capped peaks and is a must visit for some unforgettable moments of fun and adventure in the snow. In the winter months there’s snowboarding, skiing and snow-tubing to lure the adrenaline junkies. The thrill of holding fresh snow in your hands, playing with snow and making your own snowman while witnessing the golden rays of the sun dance on snow peaks, is how you will remember those precious moments spent at Mt Katao.

3. Yumthang valley

valley of flowers

Imagine being greeted by a canvas of wildflowers in myriad hues for as far as your eyes can see! Sikkim’s very own ‘valley of flowers’ is a place of unmatched beauty with rolling meadows, sparkling rivers, hot springs and flowers all around. Home to the Shingba Rhododendron sanctuary, Yumthang valley is studded with about 24 species of rhododendron which is also the national flower of Sikkim.
The valley is usually closed from December to March due to heavy snowfall. The best time to visit is in the flowering season from April end to mid-June when the valley is a rainbow of colours with hundreds of flowers including rhododendrons, poppies, primulas and irises. Even if you visit Yumthang valley at other times of the year, it’s a lovely place to spend some moments in the lap of nature near the enchanting river flowing through the valley, while you gaze at the silvery snow up above on mountain peaks. Zorbing through the valley can add some fun quotient to your tryst with nature.
Lachung to Yumthang valley distance (about 25 Km) can be easily covered in about 1.5 hours depending on the weather and road conditions. You must plan to spend 2-3 hours at the valley of flowers to do complete justice to this spectacular location.

4. Yume Samdong

known as zero point

More popularly known as Zero point, this is one of the top attractions near Lachung valley. The treacherous mountain road which is often covered in snow during the winters, offers a thrilling experience and stunning views all along the way. Aptly called zero point it is really the end of the road and the last outpost to civilization close to the border with China. Azure skies, snow-capped mountains ranges and surreal views at Yume Samdong will remain etched in your memories forever. It is advisable to leave early and be back well in time to avoid getting stuck due to snowfall or inclement weather. Since it’s very windy and cold up there, wearing multiple layers of clothes is a great way to stay warm and protected. Despite the slightly tiring route and feeling of breathlessness at this height, you will feel blessed looking around at the breathtaking views with a steaming cup of tea in your hands and a warm bowl of Maggi to dig into. What more is there to life than bearing such close witness to nature’s wonders and losing yourself to the majestic mountains!
Zero point is further ahead of Yumthang valley and takes about an hour or more to reach. So these two trips can be combined if you plan well and leave Lachung early morning.

5. Naga and Bhim Nala Falls

refreshing waterfalls

Enroute to Lachung the Bhim Nala falls are a refreshing pit stop to admire the splashing fall and click some memorable pictures on the wooden bridge with the gorgeous fall in the backdrop. Another dazzling waterfall on the way to Lachung valley is the emerald-hued Naga Falls. While most people stop by and enjoy a warm cup of tea with at the roadside tea-stall, the adventure loving can trek up a little to go close to the water.

best accomodation provided

There are plenty of accommodation options in Lachung to relax your weary bodies after all that hill driving and before you continue your mountain adventures to the next destinations.

Leh Ladakh With Kid: A Journey We’ll Cherish For A Lifetime

Be it the local cuisine of Ladakh or just the scenic wonders, Ladakh never disappoints you with the series of attractions and adventure trails it offers on a holiday. The amazing journey and majestic mountains are surely worth a visit and majorly the reason why Chitra and her family decided to venture on a journey to Ladakh. We had never thought of visiting Leh Ladakh with kid or our family but both my husband and I were always very excited to visit the place. When we were planning our holiday, at first we did not consider Ladakh at all, for only the name of the  place strikes a holiday full of adventure and thrill which we though was not possible with our family. But when we came across TravelTraingle, we were very happy with the fact that the folks planned a great holiday to Ladakh with kid and family and we had a truly amazing time.

Trip Type: Family Trip
Cost: INR 95800
No. Of People: 4 Adults, 1 Child
Duration: 7 Nights 8 Days
Inclusions: Breakfast, Dinner, Airport Transfers, Airport Transfers, Welcome Drink on Arrival, Government Taxes/VAT/ Service Charges, Hotel, Cab for sightseeing
Exclusions:Lunch, English Speaking Driver, Camel ride, Entry fee charges, Flight, Rafting

Day 1: Arrival in Leh
Day 2: Transfer to Sangam and sightseeing
Day 3: Sightseeing
Day 4: Camping at Nubra Valley
Day 5:Transfer to Tuktuk and sightseeing
Day 6:Drive to Pangong and sightseeing
Day 6: Return back home

We were worried about the weather and oxygen level because I was travelling with my parents and child. But the weather was very pleasant, and we got informed about ways to acclimatize and precautions we should take. Hotel manager, tour manager, Driver everyone was very caring and supportive throughout the journey. I booked additional oxygen cylinder for my parents but we did not use it. The average temperature in Leh Ladakh during this time is around 21 degrees.

While you travel to this place, you’ll witness many attractions in Leh Ladakh that are not to be missed if you’re traveling for the first time. From adventure to sightseeing there is everything to experience in Leh Ladakh with kid.

1. Exploring The Beauty Of Leh

amazing place

Our drive to Sangam was full of scenic sights and we really enjoyed the journey. On our way, we also visited the Magnetic Hill and Gurudwara Patthar Sahib and the holy ambience of the place along with the amazing weather made our day. The ride was full of stopovers to many attractions on the way. We visited the Confluence of Zanskar and Indus River and clicked some amazing pictures. Our child was also very enthusiastic all through the journey and kept telling us that it was a beautiful place. On your way back, we also got to visit the Ladakh Hall of fame. We went shopping and also enjoyed some local food. On our Ladakh trip, we also got to visit the Shanti Stupa, Leh Palace and Leh Market.

2. The Nubra Valley: A Must Visit

awesom place

One day, early in the morning we proceed to Nubra Valley via the Khardungla pass. Khardung la Pass is located on the way from Leh to Nubra Valley in Ladakh. It is the highest motorable road in the world as signs put up by the Border Roads Organization proudly proclaim. After arriving at the Nubra Valley we were amazed to see the beauty of the place. Pink and yellow wild roses covered the whole place and the view was heavenly. Later we went to the White Sand Dunes at Hunder. We were also overwhelmed to see the Bactrian Camels around sand dunes.

3. Living The Rural Life

beautiful place

Turtuk lies in the Baltistan Region and is one among four such villages in India, the other three being Tyakshi, Chalunkha and Thang. Turtuk is the last outpost of India at Thang after which Pakistan-controlled Gilgit-Baltistan begins. We bought different variety of fruits available in the area including apricots and also clicked a lot of pictures. One of the gateways to the Siachen Glacier, this place is perfect for travelers interested in the lives of the people living in the villages of Ladakh.

4. Camping By The Majestic Pangong Lake

experience to remember

Our stay by the Pangong is an experience to remember. Pangong Lake is one of the most amazing lakes in Asia which changes its color 4 – 5 times a day. The beautiful hues made us feel that we were completely on a different planet. Experiencing a camp stay in Leh Ladakh with kid was also different. Staying in a camp is one of the best places to stay in Leh Ladakh.

Shopping In Ladakh

We went for shopping in the Hall of Fame (Leh) our experience was very nice. We bought few pashmina shawls, woolen caps and few handicraft items for gifting purpose. Very good quality stuff at reasonable rates. We also did shopping in local markets. Picked some very unique items. I am very happy and satisfied. There are many shopping places in Leh Ladakh from where one can buy the popular local goods.

According to me, if you want to enjoy then you should not have very pack itinerary. Choose your itinerary based on your interests and try to spend more time in it.
Ladhak required 3-5 hour journey almost every alternate day. So be prepared for that.
Don’t go for very short trip like 3-4 days. Go for 6-10 days trip.

  • Take rest for the 1st day. So that your body acclimatize to high altitude.
  • I know as a traveler we feel like wasting one day but it is worth, if you want to enjoy the rest of the trip.
  • Drink a lot of water. Keep yourself warm.
  • You may stuck in pass for hours, so go with an open mindset for anything and everything.
  • Pengong lake was amazing.
  • Walk in turtuk village was a unique experience.
  • Khardungla pass and changla pass was also great, we played in the snow had lot of fun.

I must say our tour operator was very nice and friendly. She gave me a lot of information about the do’s and don’ts, as I was very confused when I read about oxygen level. She was very patient. I called her multiple times and she was happily solving/answering all my queries. I am very particular about my requirement and choices. She patiently understood and gave me suggestions according to my need.

If you too are planning a holiday with your family, do not strike off Ladakh from the list as we can plan an amazing holiday for you to the place. Let TravelTriangle plan and adventurous yet safe holiday to Ladakh with your family.

On our trip we discovered that there are some best places for couples to visit in Sri Lanka. Here are a few places that we visited and one must also visit while on a holiday in Sri Lanka.

1. Kandy: Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage

While discovering Sri Lanka, we visited the Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage. A natural habitat to all big and small elephants, the orphanage was developed as an initiation towards the breeding of elephants. It was a delight to see large herds of elephants and we managed to click some amazing pictures of the animals. The elephants are taken for a bath twice, where we also got a chance to bathe them and feed them. Overall it was a great experience. Next we visited the spice plantations. Aroma was in the air as soon as we drove close to the plantations. Cinnamons, pepper, cardamom, nutmeg and what not, we could smell hundreds of fragrances at the same time. An insight into an old age industry of spice production was a great experience.

2. Kandy: A Religious Detour

Beautiful Temple Interior

The temples in Sri Lanka hold a great history and significance and are constructed beautifully. The golden-roofed Temple also known as the Tooth Relic Temple. We were lucky enough to have visited the temple at the time of the pooja and were able to offer prayers at the sacred temple. The tooth is kept in a gold casket and shaped like a stupa. Another popular temple namely the Gangaramaya temple was yet another religious temple we visited. Situated by the Beira lake. There is so much to explore in the temple. After visiting the main premises we also visited the museum, and also the relic chamber with a lot of relics of the Buddha.

3. Kandy: Sailing Through The Mangroves

Being an important part of Sri Lanka, Mangrove forests cover a major part of the island. A boat ride to the island was just the perfect idea. The river safari is an unforgettable experience. As we travel across the mangrove forests and its tributaries we could hear the soft sound of the river water and the insects. It was a beautiful sight to savor. Among the many places to visit in Sri Lanka for couples, this experience was what I liked the most.

4. Bentota: A Glance Into The Wildlife

Natural Beauty

Beautiful Place

Beautiful Bentota

We were all the more excited for this one on our trip. After watching the elephants and feeding them, it was the time to watch the cutest creatures of the ocean, dolphins. The Dolphin Show timings are usually early in the morning around 6:00 AM. We were able to spot the marine meister from a distance and we just could not believe its hugeness. Our holiday felt complete after this amazing experience but there was much left to add to our happiness one being a visit to the turtle museum. What a feeling it was to closely admire the tiny creatures and pick up them up in our hands. As the turtles flapped through their way into the sea we took pictures. Yet another splendid experience.

5. Bentota: Riding With The Waves

Beach View

beautiful sight

Beautiful Flowers

Finally, it was time for some water adventure. We went for jet skiing and boat ride in the sea. We also went for a snorkeling experience. For us, with this adventure, our trip was a total win.

  • Hotel In Kandy: The first night we stayed at Kandy our hotel was Kandyan View Holiday Bungalow. The rooms offered excellent views of the surrounding valley. The deluxe rooms we stayed in were spacious and comfortable.
  • Hotel In Bentota: While in Bentota, we stayed at the Green Shadow Beach Hotel. The property had a really good ambiance with a private beach access.
  • Hotel In Colombo: Ivy Lane Hotel Colombo offers comfortable rooms and delicious food. Since the hotel is in the middle of the city, the rooms are cozy but we can roam around the city after our visiting places.

You can buy cheap as well as branded clothing from Sri Lanka. I would suggest you to buy clothes and gems. The local markets are good for buying casual everyday wear. Malls like Unlimited and House of Fashion are some great options around the place. You can also shop precious gems from the shops.

  • We would suggest travelers plan ahead if you are willing to visit the Whale Show and Dolphin Show.
  • The best way to travel across the place is through local trains.
  • It is advised to carry along a few dollars and euros in case the ATMs do not work.

Like us, you must pack the following items in your bag when traveling to Sri Lanka:

  • Sandals or flip-flops
  • Sports shoes
  • Sunscreen
  • Sunglasses
  • Mosquito repellent
  • Hand sanitizer
  • Umbrella

It was a great experience planning our trip with Travel Triangle. They considered all our requirements and handcrafted an itinerary that was best suited for us.

If you too are planning a trip to Sri Lanka, take your friends and family along for an awesome vacation. Plan a trip with TravelTriangle and ensure a great vacation in the country.
